The Grand Redemption of Chad Gable

Chad Gable signed with WWE in November 2013. He won his first singles championship under his own name in August 2026, in his hometown, and cried in the middle of the ring.

Thirteen years.

An Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler for the United States. Good immediately. Tag champion within a year. Then his partner got moved to another show, and the skipping started. He lost a King of the Ring final to Baron Corbin, who mocked his height for weeks, and the company liked the idea enough to rename him Shorty G. He got his name back, got handed a comedy act, and lost three straight Intercontinental Championship matches in 2024.

Then they put him under a mask as a luchador who openly disrespected lucha libre, and the character ended up in Mexico.

On May 30, 2026, in Arena Monterrey, he lost that mask. And by the tradition of that match, he had to stand in the ring and tell the crowd who he actually was. His name. His country. Thirteen years. His wife and three kids walked out and stood beside him.

That is where the career turned. Not a push. A loss, in another country, as himself.

Waiting for him at SummerSlam was the same man who beat him in his first match in this company. Gable made him submit with the hold he brought from before any of this, and the man he beat stood there after, genuinely happy for him.

Some careers do not get built by the company. They get built by leaving it.
