Today is Monday, May 18. A busy stretch starts now with Raw tonight, a three-hour Dynamite and Collision on Wednesday, and Saturday Night’s Main Event on deck. With that said, here is all the pro wrestling news you need to know for today.

SmackDown on May 15 set Gunther as Cody Rhodes’ next challenger after he beat Royce Keys, and Raw tonight features Roman Reigns’ return plus a Women’s Tag Team Championship defense by Brie Bella and Paige against Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez. AEW’s week ran through Darby Allin, who retained the AEW World Championship over Konosuke Takeshita on May 13 Dynamite and over Sammy Guevara on May 16 Collision, while the Owen Hart Foundation men’s quarterfinals were set for Double or Nothing. AAA locked in Laredo Kid vs Rey Fenix for May 23 and The War Raiders vs Pagano and Psycho Clown for May 30, and NXT closed the weekend with Tatum Paxley retaining in Johnstown.

WWE

Friday’s SmackDown on May 15 set the title picture when Gunther defeated Royce Keys to become No. 1 Contender to Cody Rhodes, and Rhodes answered with Cross Rhodes after the bell. On the same show, Trick Williams beat The Miz in a non-title bout in Columbia, S.C., and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Brie Bella and Paige topped Giulia and Kiana James in non-title tag action. Damian Priest put away Tama Tonga, then Talla Tonga and Solo Sikoa attacked Priest after the match. Tonight’s Raw is advertised from the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, NC, with Roman Reigns set for a live appearance and a Women’s Tag Team Championship match pitting Brie Bella and Paige against Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez. Oba Femi is also listed for an open challenge.

NXT

Sunday’s NXT live event on May 17 at the 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, PA saw Tatum Paxley retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Nikkita Lyons, and Bayley defeat Zaria by disqualification. Earlier this week, Tuesday’s NXT on May 12 from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando featured Naraku defeating Lince Dorado. The card also had Tatum Paxley and Lizzy Rain beating Zaria and Nikkita Lyons, and Kelani Jordan getting a singles win over Kendal Grey.

AEW

Wednesday’s Dynamite on May 13 had Darby Allin defeat Konosuke Takeshita to remain AEW World Champion, with Allin moving on to face MJF at Double or Nothing. Saturday’s Collision on May 16 at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, Maryland saw Allin retain again in a No Count Out match over Sammy Guevara. Willow Nightingale kept the TBS Championship by beating Red Velvet on the same show. AEW also revealed Owen Hart Foundation men’s quarterfinals for Double or Nothing, Samoa Joe vs Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland vs Bandido, and announced a special three-hour Dynamite and Collision this Wednesday, May 20, from Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine.

AAA Lucha Libre

Saturday’s AAA on Fox broadcast on May 16 from Auditorio General Jose Maria Arteaga in Querétaro featured Mr. Iguana and La Parka winning a four-way over NGD, Tokyo Bad Boys, and Money Machine, and The Creed Brothers defeating Aerostar and El Fiscal. AAA set Laredo Kid to defend the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Rey Fenix on the May 23 edition of AAA on Fox. For May 30 at Arena Monterrey, The War Raiders will challenge Pagano and Psycho Clown for the AAA World Tag Team Championship at Noches de Los Grandes.

What Matters Most

The center of the week sits on television: Raw tonight with Roman Reigns back, then AEW’s three-hour block on May 20 from Cross Insurance Arena. Saturday layers in two title slates, Laredo Kid vs Rey Fenix on AAA on Fox and World Tag Team and Intercontinental title matches at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Fort Wayne featuring Logan Paul and Austin Theory vs The Street Profits and Penta vs Ethan Page. That leaves Darby Allin and MJF a narrow window before Double or Nothing.

Your Take
